Children are in this room from the age of 3 until they are due to start school, although this can vary depending on the individual child's age and stage of development. We try to maintain the ratio of 1 qualified adult to every 6 children, but we are registered for 1:8. The Owls room is planned to help the children prepare for school.
Key workers complete a detailed curriculum plan based on the 'Early Learning Goals', and they are; physical development, language and literacy, mathematics, creative, knowledge and understanding and personal, social and emotional. All activities are planned for children of all stages of their development, French is taught twice a week and used alongside their daily routine.
At meal times, the children are given choices and they are encouraged to use both their knife and fork, we also encourage the children to try all foods on their plate. By the time the children are ready for full time education, they would have benefited from all social and academic skills learnt at Nursery Thymes Too and will have all the advantages to begin school as self assured individuals.
The children have opportunities for educational walks to the park, library, beach or shops giving them a chance for plenty of fresh air. A group outing takes place for all the children in the nursery, during the Summer term where all parents and carers are invited along to make it a fun day out for all.
Funding is available to all children aged 3 - 5 years and at present this amounts to £8 per session and the entitlement is for up to five sessions a week. Funded sessions can be taken during the morning or afternoon, please check with the Manager for availability.
